Personnel Profiles

Steven M. Jessee, LPG

Principal, Managing Member – Polaris Environmental, LLC

 

Mr. Jessee is the founder of Polaris Environmental, LLC.  Mr. Jessee is a Licensed Professional Geologist (#1539) in the State of Indiana and a licensed Marion County, Indiana general contractor (#GL1200174).  He has over 24-years’ experience as an Environmental Professional and has performed hundreds of Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Property Conditions Assessments (PCAs) throughout the United States and Puerto Rico for a wide range of local and national clients, including banks, agency lenders, life companies, law firms, and property developers/owners.  Other experience in the environmental industry includes third party peer review, expert testimony, managing and performing numerous soil/groundwater/vapor intrusion investigations, conceptual site model and closure strategy development. 

 

Prior to working as an Environmental Professional, Mr. Jessee gained over 10-years experience as a petroleum development geologist/geophysicist with Texas Oil & Gas, Inc., and later, Marathon Oil Company.  Mr. Jessee has maintained his contacts in the oil and gas industry and kept abreast of the ongoing environmental issues surrounding the dramatic increase in horizontal well drilling and the use of hydraulic formation fracturing 'fracking'.

 

 

Thoma W. Mattox, II

Senior Environmental Scientist and Member – Polaris Environmental, LLC

 

Mr. Mattox has over 19-years of environmental experience ranging from emergency response actions to more long-term investigation and remediation projects.  The first 5 years of his career were as a regulator for the State of Indiana, Department of Environmental Management (IDEM); serving as a facility coordinator for the State Tier II program, dispatcher and responder for the Emergency Response Section, and project manager for the Voluntary Remediation Program. Mr. Mattox has provided environmental consultanting services to a wide range of clients including railroad and pipeline companies, telecommunication, and automotive manufactures to address chlorinated solvents, creosote, RCRA metals, and petroleum issues. Mr. Mattox continues to reach out and maintain the personal relationships he established with his former IDEM colleagues and stay abreast of current and forthcoming regulatory changes to IDEM programs and guidance.

 

 

Lauren E. Johnson

Project Environmental Scientist – Polaris Environmental, LLC

 

Ms. Johnson has over 5-years of environmental field experience.  Ms. Johnson is responsible for oversight of Polaris's long-term soil and groundwater sampling and reporting commitments, laboratory quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), preparation of electronic data deliverables, and office administrative requirements. Ms. Johnson is 40-hour HAZWOPER training certified.
